3. Complete the LIA:
Literal
(a) I, Sonakshi Sagar, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
(b) For my Independent Task, what I did was prepare and take part in a Tournament. It took at over a whole month of practice to prepare for it. It was one of the biggest tournaments going on for Women's cricket in California. There were a total of four teams, two from up north and two from here. I played on the Hollywood Rebels team. Every weekend our team would meet up either at Woodley Park, Fontana Grounds, and once or twice at Rancho Cucamonga Middle School's cricket ground, to practice. We ended up getting second place in the tournament, San Jose's team got first.
Interpretive
My task demonstrates 30hrs of work because we would practice for two hours on Sunday and three on Saturday. On Saturdays we would practice on fitness and better tactics to use during a match, and field positions. On Sundays we would practice on specific technique improvements, and play mini-matches against the guys on Citrus Valley Cricket Academy. It took a lot of hard work and dedication to come to the position my team and I are at. Not only did I have to practice on the weekends with my team I also basically had to practice everyday at home, whether it was walking around my house with a cricket ball in my hand practicing my spin with my fingers, or going into my backyard and practicing with my brother and sister. Although we didn't win, we have gone a far way since the beginning and it really showed in the matches. Also, by being in the games, I could also tell what else I need to improve myself on still, for example my balling needs more flight and turn in it, so I can show the best of my abilities.
Applied
By practicing for a tournament and playing in it has helped me answer my EQ in many ways. It was even weird how while I was playing the game in the back of my mind I kept thinking, while it was when I was batting, fielding, or even balling, how the answers to my EQ kept coming up. For example, when I was batting and the ball was coming towards me I thought how your vision is most important and how you always have to keep your eyes on the ball. Basically by doing this Independent Study, it has helped me get a better understanding of my EQ and it has helped me support my answers.
Grade: P
ReplyDeletePros: I think it's fantastic that you are so dedicated to cricket! You team and coach is lucky to have such a contentious and focused player on their side.
Cons: What were the results of the tournament?! Do tell!
