Independent Study Update

1) What have you chosen to do as your first independent study?
For my first independent study I plan on playing in a tournament coming up this winter. I will start practicing and preparing for this tournament this December and the tournament will take place late Jan. It is tournament that will be played against other women's cricket teams, and I will be playing on Hollywood Rebels team.
2) How does this task relate to your essential question?
This task relates to my essential question because one of the best skills needed in becoming a successful cricket player is to be able to stay mentally focused within a long period of time to prepare for a game.

3) What tasks associated with your first independent study have you accomplished so far?
Some task that I have already completed is that I have played in some tournaments before and have prepared for them.

5 min Presentation Reflection

What would you say stood out about your presentation performance and what was most challenging to do and why?

I would say the thing that most stood out most to me about my presentation is that I need to time myself better. The most challenging thing to do was thinking of a topic! That was the most challenging because it is hard to think of something to talk about that I can't repeat in my 2hr b/c everything about cricket is important.

Interview 1 Reflection

What is the most important thing I learned from the interview and why?

The most important thing I learned from the interview is that there are a lot of things you can do for service learning and it is all about just knowing the right people. I learned that I could do lots of volunteering and just helping out a little will get me far. David also helped me realized there are also a lot of other people who I could talk to.

Interview Check

Who are you interviewing and why?
I am interviewing David Sentance for one of my interviews because he is a good coach and he is also the manager for the Hollywood Rebels team, which is the team I play on. He was also works for SCCA(Southern California Cricket Academy) and was one if the selectors for the USACA(United States of America Cricket Association) for the womens team. I believe I can learn a lot from him and is a great person to interview.

What other questions could you ask your interviewer?
a) What suggestions would you give to help me become a better player in cricket?
b) Do you recommend me doing any certain exercises for better training?
